Welcome to the Asheville Christian Writers Conference

Wow, does time fly or what? I feel like we just finished the 2016 conference and now we're gearing up for 2017. I vote for time to slow just a WEEEEE bit.

Welcome to the Asheville Christian Writers Conference! I'm excited this year since we're doing new things. For our returning conferees, you'll notice immediately we have a new name and logo. Yep - it's been a three year process, but I had to agree (this time - grin) with Eddie. Our past title of Writers Advance! Boot Camp led folks to believe they had to be advanced writers to attend. Of course, you know that's not true, but our name seemed to be sending away a few folks who probably needed to be with our little family. So we've officially launched the title, The Asheville Christian Writers Conference with a tag line of Stepping In and Stepping Up - Writing to Advance the Kingdom One Word at a Time.

We never want to lose our background of working as an army to advance the Kingdom so we're hoping this new tagline will show that.

So, WELCOME!

BUSINESS FIRST -

We only have 10 rooms on campus left. There's plenty of housing off campus, but if you know someone who wants to secure their ON CAMPUS HOUSING let them know before the ON Campus rooms fill. Again, there is plenty of OFF CAMPUS housing available at the three hotels just outside the gates of the Cove.

If you have paid a deposit of $95 - Here is your link for final payments. Choose your room and click and make your payment by November 1. All links have a $6.50 PayPal surcharge added. Sorry but processing costs continue to rise and we cannot absorb it - it will show as SHIPPING.

Triple Room - (Please do not choose a triple unless you have roommates in line and have contacted me) - I know we have some writers groups and families who attend so I have you already. But it's those new ones that throw me for a loop).

Our link on the website for the $95 deposit ENDS September 15. So if you have friends who want to pre-register with just a deposit, pass the word. The link vanishes and payment in full begins September 15.

Now that the business is over . . .
Here's what we need for you. NOW READ CLOSELY...I need a SHORT bio (75 words or less - faculty excluded). I need it in a WORD DOCUMENT, Times News 12 point. Attach this bio as a document and attach a jpg of yourself as an attachment to your email and email it to [email protected]. This is for our roster and if you never attended ACWC before, you'll quickly learn what a valuable tool this is. PLEASE TAKE TIME AND SEND THIS TO ME ASAP.

Our website has taken on a new look. . .

When you visit www.ashevillechristianwritersconference, you'll see we have a new look. Take a few minutes and look over the site. Check out the contests, the faculty and the classes. Please note, our faculty are still preparing classes and all of them are NOT listed. But they will be soon, so check back from time to time. You will see our 2017 schedule is up and you can get a feel for tight timing we have.

I encourage you to begin to pray about the track you will participate in:
Step IN replaces our Infantry Level. This is geared to the newer writer.
Step UP replaces our Officer Level. This is geared toward the more seasoned writer.

Our mentoring services are available again by popular demand. So check out those as well. If you qualify for one the 1 hour session is only $45 and it's just you and your professional mentor working specifically on your project. This is valuable. I had to wait ten years to sit at the feet of Yvonne Lehman for guidance...let me tell you - had this been available to me ten years ago, I'd have paid twice that to have a professional author walk through my work with me and give me guidance.

Our critique services will be available again as well. As usual, we will record all the sessions and the keynotes so you have those available to purchase for $35. When I drove 9.5 hours to Philadelphia, I put all of my Blue Ridge MP3s on a thumb drive and listened to classes all the way there and back. Conference MP3s are a tool you can refer back to over and over and it's the ENTIRE CONFERENCE. $35 is a small price and the money goes to provide scholarships for the next year. So plan ahead, prepare to purchase your MP3s at the conference.

ACWC Bookstore will again be open. It will have faculty books for your purchase. I'm sorry that we cannot include conferee books here. It goes back to taxes and state rules and bla, bla, bla...in other words, I'm one person - I can't manage all your taxes (And you don't want me to), so our bookstore will only have faculty books available. I encourage you to shop our bookstore. You'll be able to purchase MP3's, books, and pre-register for 2018).

This past year our conference rallied around Bob Hostetler to donate $1000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of his two grandchildren who fight the CF battle daily. I was so touched and Bob was completely overwhelmed, that our conferees had such a generous heart, that we'll place a Bob Bowl on our Bookstore table again. If you feel so inclined, we'd love for you to help us support Bob and his grandchildren, in this fight against Cystic Fibrosis. We'll forward that to him for his campaign drive in the spring of 2017. (By the way, Bob will be back with us in 2018).

Well, I guess I've dumped enough on you for one day. Please begin to pray for this conference and that God will send those He would have attend. It's our goal to train writers who hear the call of God. To join together as an army and write for the Kingdom. . . .one word at a time.
